"The sides of the little round bowl and the upright handle are enamelled in shades of blue, with touches of white and pink, on a ginger enamel ground, the front and back featuring a double-headed eagle motif. The style and coloration - the neo-Russian style - are typical of Imperial Russia's most famous enameller,Fedor Ruckert. Ruckert was responsible for cloisonne enamelling for the Faberge firm, but he also created and sold pieces as an independent silversmith. The marks on the base are clear, with a scratched inventory number 38928, which may indicate it was sold through Faberge. There is a small amount of restoration to the enamel ground, in no way detracting from the appearance of this fine little piece"
