SUPERB gilded silver, shaded cloisonne, translucent and guilloche enamel Easter egg by Feodor Ruckert, made in Moscow between 1899 and 1908.

Height 2 1/8 in. (5,4 cm).
Diameter 1 1/2 in. (3,8 cm).

This is the only known PICTORIAL Easter egg by Ruckert with a RELIGIOUS SCENE.

The front of the upper half of the egg is enameled with two angels kneeling in adoration before the empty coffin of Christ. The scene symbolizes Christ's resurrection from the dead.
The back of the upper half of the egg is enameled with flying birds silhouetted against the pink rising sun.
The sun rays are done with twisted wires on a golden yellow & orange guilloche enamel ground.
The lower half of the egg with very fine shaded cloisonne and translucent green enamel floral designs on a bluish gray and brown ground.
The color palette and floral designs of this egg are typical for objects by the master from the period of 1899-1908. Any eggs by Ruckert are very rare. The use of translucent guilloche enamel in combination with cloisonne enamel is extremely rare and found only on a very few Ruckert's eggs.

Condition:
All original enamel and gilding. No restoration.
There are 3 noticeable chips to enamel on the upper half of the egg.
a flat chip to the yellowish-white enamel of the star
a chipped area in the lower part of the red robe
a tiny chip to translucent pink enamel in the lower right corner of the sun
All those chips could be easily fixed if necessary.
The egg is struck on the inner rim of the lower part with master's initials Cyrillic 'F R' and Moscow assay stamp.
The upper part is marked with 88 zolotniks standard (916 silver) with assayer's initials of Ivan Lebedkin.
