From Sotheby description: "the lid is painted en plein after Victor Vasnetsov's Vityaz Na Rasputie (A Warrior at the Crossroads) within an arched reserve, both surfaces decorated in three registers with shaded cloisonné enamel stylised foliate forms, cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, and gilt interior."
