During the late nineteenth century, artistic movements evolved in Russia celebrating the nation’s cultural heritage. Colonies of artists working in Abramtsevo and Talashkino sought to recapture the craftsmanship and spirit of Pre-Petrine Russia. Fabergé’s Moscow workshops embraced this style and depicted in silver and enamels an idyllic world distilled from Slavic folklore and history.
