The egg is decorated with multicoloured bands of stylized flower heads and scrolling foliage. The upper part of the egg features three en plain paintings of palaces and cathedrals. The top and bottom is each garnished by an enamel flower. The egg is also decorated by engraved silver imperial eagles and three large geometric motifs with columns and circles centred by a cabochon garnet each. A silver-gilt stand made of three classical busts with claw feet holds the egg.
