From the private collection of Antiquessideshow. (Dealing in antiques and antique jewelry for over 50 years). Silver gilt box with a miniature of "Ivan Tsarevich Riding the Grey Wolf"---"a Russian Folk-tale about the adventures of the prince Ivan Tsarevich and his companion, the Grey Wolf, a magician. Tsarevich saved the Wolf's cubs and the Wolf helped him in several quests: to get golden apples, to get a horse with a golden mane, and to get a beautiful princess." The original is by Victor Vasnetsov--famous Russian artist---1848--1926---which is exhibited in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. Beautiful painted matte enamel and wirework by Fedor Ruckert, workmaster for the firm of Carl Faberge--1908--1917. Height of box is 1 1/8 inches--width is 1 3/4 inches and length is 2 5/8 inches. (From age and use, there are a few small chips near bottom and corners, as attempted to show in our pictures. Very little detriment to the overall beauty and rarity of this small treasure).
