A Russian Cloisonné Enameled Gem-Set Gilt Silver Bird-Form Kovsh Feodor Rückert, Moscow, circa 1906 5-3/8 x 10-3/4 x 4-1/8 inches (13.7 x 27.3 x 10.5 cm) 455 grams
PROVENANCE: Christie's New York, The Greenfield Collection of Russian Enamels, October 20th 1998, lot 183; An important private collection, acquired from the above; John Atzbach Antiques, Bellevue, Washington, acquired from the above; Acquired from the above by the present owner. The bird form or "sandpiper" kovsh was a specialty form and several are known, including one at the Walters Museum of Art, Baltimore, Maryland, (Coll No. 44.948 by the 6th Artel). Versions by Rückert are comparatively rare: an unmarked one compared to the offered lot was sold Sotheby's New York, Important Russian Enamels and Fabergé from an New York Private Collection, November 4, 2010, lot 30.
