Imperial Faberge Egg
Imperial Faberge Egg. Circa 1905.

It was crafted by Faberge work-master Fedor Ruckert in solid sterling silver with gold overlay and complex filigreed cloisonne designs. This egg bears the Imperial Warrant Stamp consisting of a two headed eagle. The only individuals who were authorized to use this stamp were those who specifically did work for the Imperial household.
Imperial eggs are rarely offered for sale under any circumstance and most extant representations are privately held by royalty and museum collections. Fedor Ruckert was among the most well known and respected of the Imperial Workmasters. His works are featured prominently in Faberge literature and may be found in virtually every major museum in the world.
This particular egg has been said to originally have been crafted specifically to hold a pair of 10 carat emerald earrings given to the Czarina in 1905. It measures approximately 3.5 inches by 5 inches and is one of the largest we've seen. It has been exhibited in the New Orleans Museum of Art and has never been offered for sale to the public - until now!
