ANTIQUE ART DECO RUSSIAN SILVER ENAMELED KOVSH

BY FEDOR RUCKERT

CARL FABERGE SILVERSMITH
Moskow 1896-1908
Silversmith Fedor Ruckert
Faberge workmaster Fedor Ruckert, born in Moscow, of German origin, made articles in Moscow in cloissonй enamel. Fabergй's Moscow signature often obliterates Ruckert's initials. Fedor Ruckert was head silversmith and produced large objects and services, as well as sliver animals and boxes for Carl Faberge.
Kovsh" - an ancient Russian drinking vessel, usually boat-shaped with a carved handle. A very popular purely decorative object in the late 19th - early 20th century Russia, the time of revival of ancient Russian design (known as Neo-Russian style). Such objects were primarily produced in Moscow.
This unique SILVER ENAMELED KOVSH is a pure workmanship of a 20th century in the period of Art Deco, with finely chased and engraved decorations and very vibrant and vivid colors.
On both sides of the kovsh is an engravement of a fish in which you could truly see the play of colors in its' scales (red, blue and burgundy) also geometric-like shapes of pastel colors: pink, blue, yellow and purple carved throughout the kovsh. Notice the thin, silver brade that outlines the top of the kovsh, handle and shapes out the fish. This makes the kovsh look especially stunning. This is a very rare and hard to find item, which simply is an impress to everyone.
