A magnificent Russian silver gilt, shaded cloisonne and guilloche enamel Easter egg, by Feodor Ruckert, Moscow, circa 1896-1908. This unique egg is decorated with two pictorials. The front of the upper half is enameled with a scene of the resurrection, depicted by two angels kneeling in adoration before the empty coffin of Christ. The back of the upper half of the egg is enameled with birds in flight against a pink rising sun. The sun rays are created with spiral wirework on a golden yellow and orange guilloche enamel ground. The lower half of the egg is enameled with very fine shaded cloisonne and translucent green enamel with floral motifs. Height: 2 1/8".
